Surrounded on 3 sides by hillocks, separated from Ajmer by a winding river, the town has small and narrow roads. Lucky for you, your bike can easily navigate them! Riding around, you can explore the entire town in 1 to 2 days. Just make sure you don’t push your bike to its limits. You don’t want to be stuck there without a ride home, do you?
Your Route
When traveling from Jaipur to Pushkar by motorbike, you’ll be taking NH 8, or the Jaipur – Ajmer highway. Pushkar is around 149 kms from Jaipur. This may seem far, but in reality, your drive should not take more than 3 hours. The Jaipur – Ajmer highway is one of the finest highways in India. This makes it very ideal for the bike trip from Jaipur to Pushkar. Though you’ll have to stop for tolls, nothing can beat riding along the highway with the wind in your face. Look out for the right-turn bypass that takes you to Pushkar, located just before you enter Ajmer.
However, as with any bike trip, your safety is paramount. Drive cautiously during the first 20 to 25 kms once you enter the Jaipur – Ajmer bypass. Last we checked, the road was a bit patchy and posed risks of your bike skidding. Additionally, you’ll find a few speed bumps on the road between Ajmer and Pushkar, so make sure you drive carefully.

Best Time To Travel
Both Jaipur and Pushkar experience scorching heat during the summer season, with temperatures soaring as high as 40°C. These are the months from March to June, and we recommend avoiding a road trip at this time. The best time for both destinations is the winter, from November to February. Temperatures drop in both locations, as low as 5°C, so ensure you have enough warm clothes. Pushkar is famous for its annual camel fair, a 5-day fest that happens every November. The atmosphere is amazing, and a road trip would be enjoyable. However, you should expect more traffic during this period.
Winter is also peak season for tourists, so make accommodation bookings in advance and expect to see more people on the road with you. If you want to enjoy a bike ride in the off season, we recommend October. It is the last of the monsoon months in both destinations, neither of which receive very heavy showers. However, as a safety precaution, keep an eye on the weather and ensure it is safe to head out for your journey. If this is one of your first journeys, save it for the winter, as the risk of riding inexperienced through the rain is not worth taking for you.
